Museveni to open Uganda Connect week for global trade ties
Uganda’s president will open a four-day trade gathering later this month that aims to strengthen connections between domestic producers and foreign purchasers seeking African merchandise and investment opportunities. The Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development is organizing the gathering at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort from November 25 through 28 under the banner Meet, Connect and Trade.
Chairman Odrek Rwabogo said during preparatory discussions that the effort will help move the nation beyond simple commodity sales toward partnerships built around added value. The program eliminates unstructured commerce by allowing international purchasers to observe production systems and meet manufacturers directly, he noted. A marketplace component will let visiting buyers examine products, watch demonstrations and sample offerings from companies ready to ship goods abroad.
The buyers week represents one element of a larger Uganda Connect framework designed to build overseas confidence through improved traceability, stronger brand development and consistent market engagement. Organizers expect attendance from trade officials, diplomatic personnel and investment representatives interested in sourcing products or exploring commercial arrangements across export sectors.
