Nigeria begins testing National Single Window to streamline trade processes
Nigeria has begun testing its National Single Window platform with regulatory agencies and trade stakeholders as authorities target a March launch for the digital system designed to consolidate documentation and reduce commercial transaction expenses. Technology provider CrimsonLogic guided representatives from the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service, Standards Organization of Nigeria, National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, Nigeria Customs Service and freight forwarding organizations through navigation protocols and operational frameworks.
Finance Minister Wale Edun and Federal Inland Revenue Service Executive Chairman Zacch Adedeji observed the acceptance testing sessions, expressing approval of agency collaboration efforts. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the platform will compress clearance periods from 21 days to under seven, while aligning with the African Continental Free Trade Area digital requirements.
Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding Registrar Kingsley Igwe said similar implementations in Singapore, South Korea and Rwanda have demonstrated logistics cost reductions reaching 25 to 30 percent while improving supply chain transparency and trade competitiveness.
