TCS denies M&S contract ended over cyberattack
Tata Consultancy Services rejected a British media account that linked the termination of a contract with Marks & Spencer to cybersecurity failures. The Indian technology firm told stock exchanges the report misrepresented both the contract value and the reasons for the partnership change.
The service desk agreement underwent standard competitive bidding, which began in January. Marks & Spencer selected different vendors before hackers struck in April, making the two events separate, according to Tata Consultancy Services.
The technology provider said it scanned all systems after the breach and found no weaknesses. Another company handles cybersecurity work for the British retailer.
Tata Consultancy Services maintains partnerships with Marks & Spencer across multiple business areas. The service desk contract accounted for only a minor portion of their total work together.
