Valhalla DSP has released ValhallaSupermassive v4.0
Valhalla DSP has released a new version of their ValhallaSupermassive plugin, 4.0.0. This update introduces a brand new mode called Pleiades that produces reverb and echo effects.
The cool thing about Pleiades is that it’s not one of those crazy, out-there modes that Supermassive is known for. Instead, it’s meant to create the smoothest and most natural-sounding reverbs that Supermassive has ever had. The attack is super fast, and the decay is a filtered exponential type. The reverb is dense but without any weird color, and you can crank up the DENSITY control to 100% to make the echo even thicker without sounding metallic or harsh. Pleiades is all about making reverbs that are transparent and open-sounding.
But Pleiades isn’t just a one-trick pony. It’s also really good at doing modulation effects and chorus delays. You can get realistic small room sounds if you keep the delay times short and the feedback low. Or, if you turn up the input, you’ll get a lush reverb with a natural-sounding high-frequency decay, depending on how you set the EQ. And the modulation is rich and balanced, which makes the Pleiades perfect for those vast modulated reverbs that sound like they go on forever. You can also use it for chorus, flanger effects, or synced echoes with a chorus.
