Weezy’s hit song “Lollipop” is now a diamond record

“Lollipop” has reached diamond status, and U.S. hip-hop artist Lil Wayne is rightfully proud. In an Instagram post, the Cash Money Records rapper paid homage to his late collaborator, Static Major (Stephen Garrett), and expressed gratitude for the support of his loyal fanbase.

The diamond certification of “Lollipop” is also a reflection of its enduring appeal and the talent of Weezy who is arguably the best rapper to ever do it. Other musicians who congratulated Lil Wayne on IG include Ty Dolla Sign, Ludacris, and Birdman.

Note: In the glitz and glamour of the music industry, becoming a diamond certified recoding artist is one of the ultimate mark of success. Only the most talented and dedicated artists are able to sell over 10 million units, the threshold set by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Some of the greatest rap artists have reached this level of achievement, such as Travis Scott with “Sicko Mode”, Eminem with “Lose Yourself”, Kanye West with “Stronger” and Drake with “God’s Plan.” Thus, it’s not an easy path to diamond status, but these artists have shown that it’s possible with hard work and determination.
