AMD delays Zen 6 release until 2027 due to TSMC shift
AMD may postpone its Zen 6 processor line to 2027 after its manufacturing partner, TSMC, adjusted its advanced chipmaking technology timeline. The Ryzen 11000 series was set for release in mid-2026 but faces delays tied to TSMC’s N2X production process, which provides faster speeds and better power management.
The shift breaks AMD’s pattern of launching new processor families every two years since 2017. TSMC rescheduled the N2X node to late 2027 or early 2028, forcing AMD to reconsider its product schedule while rival Intel prepares its Nova Lake chips for 2026.
AMD plans to bridge the gap with updated Zen 5 processors built on refined manufacturing methods for laptops and mainstream computers. The company will wait for stable N2X production before releasing desktop Zen 6 versions, analysts said.
