AMD grabs 84% of US desktop CPU sales as Intel slips
AMD processors captured 83.8 percent of desktop CPU sales through Amazon during October 2025, with the company moving approximately 52,800 units compared to 10,200 from Intel, according to TechEpiphany analysis of marketplace data. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D alone approached total Intel desktop processor volume for the month, while the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and 9800X3D combined reached roughly 16,000 units sold and occupied the top two positions in monthly rankings.
Intel failed to place any product within the Top 10 bestseller list for the sixth consecutive month, with the Core i9-14900K and Core i7-14700K each selling around 1,000 units to rank 16th and 17th, respectively. The Core Ultra 7 265K maintained similar sales volumes despite recent price reductions, while average selling prices showed Intel at $308 per unit versus $272 for AMD across desktop chip categories.
