Ashok Leyland shares surge after 16% sales jump
Ashok Leyland reported October sales of 17,820 vehicles, marking a 16 percent climb from the 15,310 units sold during the same period one year earlier. Domestic sales reached 16,314 units last month compared with 14,067 units in October 2024, while medium and heavy commercial vehicles accounted for 9,611 deliveries versus 8,437 in the prior year. The commercial vehicle manufacturer received a contract worth 668.76 crore rupees on July 13 to produce 1,937 buses for Tamil Nadu State Transport.
Shares closed at 141.45 rupees on Friday, gaining half a percentage point. The stock has climbed 16 percent during the past three months and delivered 27 percent gains to shareholders so far this year. One-year returns reached 36 percent, while the five-year performance showed a 258 percent increase. The company distributed bonus shares at a one-for-one ratio when trading went ex-bonus in July, and paid a 4.25 rupee dividend per share after going ex-dividend in May.
