Airtel partners to boost digital skills in Rwanda
Four organizations joined forces to expand internet access and technology training in Rwanda through new digital learning centers. The Airtel Africa Foundation, International Telecommunication Union, Rwanda Information Society Authority and Cisco will provide free connectivity and skills programs to people lacking digital resources.
Airtel Rwanda will supply routers, wireless networks and data plans without charge to the training sites. The telecommunications company plans to help the country develop a knowledge economy and reach citizens who cannot afford smartphones or online services.
The International Telecommunication Union will create lesson materials and connect the centers to technology experts across regions. Rwanda officials noted 900 million Africans remain without internet connections and said the centers will teach young people to use artificial intelligence tools.
The partnership supports Rwanda’s national connectivity programs and the United Nations development goals for 2030. Leaders said combining government agencies, businesses and international groups creates stronger results than separate efforts.
