Bank of Ghana raises forex bureau licence fee by 300%
The Bank of Ghana increased the biennial license renewal fee for foreign exchange bureaus to 2,000 cedis from 500 cedis, marking a 300 percent rise that takes effect immediately. Officials announced the adjustment on Friday, October 24, 2025, as part of regulatory reforms aimed at strengthening supervision and supporting operational sustainability across the sector.
All licensed exchange bureaus must submit renewal applications at least two months before their current permits expire under the new pricing structure. The central bank issued the directive under Section 10 of the Foreign Exchange Act of 2006 and Paragraph 8 of the Revised Forex Bureau Regulations, which govern currency trading operations.
