BAT Zimbabwe reports $34.7M impact, strong sustainability gains
British American Tobacco Zimbabwe published its first independent sustainability document for 2024. The company reported contributing thirty-four point seven million dollars to the national economy last year through various stakeholder payments. This included fourteen point three million dollars in tax obligations and eight million dollars distributed to retail partners.
Management announced exceeding gender representation objectives with women holding forty-six percent of leadership positions. Environmental progress featured a twenty-six point seven percent decrease in carbon emissions and ninety-three point nine percent waste recycling achievement. Water usage declined by forty-six percent compared to baseline measurements. The organization earned recognition as Zimbabwe’s initial recipient of international water stewardship certification. Additional honors included national corporate governance and environmental responsibility distinctions. Officials stated these outcomes demonstrate commitment to sustainable business practices while advancing their smoke-free future initiative across local markets.
