CAP marks global lead poisoning week
Chemical and Allied Products Plc participated in the 2025 International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, held from October 19 to 25, to address risks of toxic metal contamination. The paint manufacturer produces all brands without added lead compounds to protect Nigerian families and workplaces from health hazards. Managing Director Bolarin Okunowo said the company treats safety as mandatory rather than optional when creating products for residential and commercial applications.
The World Health Organization reports that lead contact at any amount damages developing brains and causes almost one million deaths each year in poorer nations. Research from Nigerian universities shows that 78 percent of local painters suffer from chronic respiratory and skin problems, while only 7.5 percent consistently wear protective gear. The company operates a training academy that teaches artisans about the dangers of contamination and modern painting techniques. Officials hosted education sessions in Ibadan this week to demonstrate prevention methods for workers exposed to hazardous materials.
