China hails return of India flights
China expressed willingness on Friday to strengthen ties with India after airlines from both nations resumed direct passenger service. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said the flight restoration reflects agreements reached during leaders’ meetings in Tianjin. He stated Beijing wants to work with New Delhi to manage relations strategically for mutual benefit and regional stability.
IndiGo will resume daily service between Kolkata and Guangzhou on Sunday and launch New Delhi-Guangzhou flights in November. China Eastern Airlines announced three weekly flights connecting Shanghai and Delhi starting Nov. 9. The carrier will operate on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays using its restored India network.
The Shanghai-Delhi route links major economic centers in both countries. Flight MU563 departs Shanghai at 12:50 p.m. and arrives in Delhi at 5:45 p.m. local time. The return flight leaves Delhi at 7:55 p.m. and reaches Shanghai at 4:10 a.m. the next day.
