Denmark to deepen maritime ties with Nigeria
Denmark plans to increase economic partnerships with Nigeria by channeling investment and expertise into the West African nation’s expanding maritime industry, focusing on port infrastructure, ocean commerce, and workforce development for sailors. Danish Ambassador Jens Bach Jansen disclosed the initiative during a visit to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency offices in Lagos, highlighting decades of cooperation between the two countries.
Danish private sector participants have contributed to building Nigeria’s shipping capabilities, and the Scandinavian government seeks to deepen involvement in areas including naval personnel training and coastal protection measures. The ambassador emphasized historical ties between the nations while expressing optimism about future collaboration opportunities in the blue economy sector.
