EA pauses F1 26 for F1 25 season expansion
Electronic Arts will skip the annual Formula 1 release cycle, opting to sell a paid expansion for F1 25 rather than launching F1 26. The downloadable content will incorporate the complete 2026 season, including revised car designs aligned with upcoming technical regulation changes, modified sporting rules and refreshed team compositions.
The publisher attributed the strategic shift to strong commercial performance and positive player feedback for F1 25 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms. Codemasters will redirect resources toward building major features while delivering seasonal updates through expansions.
F1 27 remains scheduled for 2027 as a comprehensive redesign featuring new visual presentation, reworked control mechanics and additional gameplay modes. Virtual reality compatibility has not been confirmed for upcoming entries despite appearing since F1 22.
