Experts hail India’s AI surge, say tech drives growth
Technology leaders and researchers say the country stands positioned to reach developed-nation status by advancing its artificial intelligence capabilities and expanding digital infrastructure systems. Comments came during presentations at the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave held at Bharat Mandapam, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed achievements across multiple sectors.
Bhushan Pathwardhan from Pune Savitribai Phule University said the nation has shifted from following other countries to setting direction in health care and space exploration. An attendee named Nidhi predicted the country will eventually lead global digital systems, pointing to a recently announced research initiative worth 1 lakh crore rupees. Rahul Singh, who runs the Medical Incubation Centre at Government Institute of Medical Sciences in Noida, called the timing appropriate for meeting goals set for 2047.
Meena Krishnayya noted the nation has moved beyond merely consuming technology to driving technological change. She highlighted agricultural advances through drones and fertilization methods that could enhance global nutrition. Mangi Lal Jat from ICAR said priorities include developing bio-fortified crops and improving soil through biological inputs. Monika Garg stated that adequate resources and equipment would accelerate progress toward developed-country status.
