Festive lull fails to dent tech and edu job boom
Professional recruitment across India expanded during October 2025 as employers sought workers for education positions, financial services roles and business process outsourcing despite holiday slowdowns around Diwali and Dussehra. The Naukri JobSpeak Index registered 2,480 points last month, representing a 9 percent annual decline. However, when researchers factored in calendar shifts from religious observances, white-collar employment postings actually climbed 3 percent from the previous year.
Multiple industries posted gains even as festive celebrations dampened overall activity. Financial and accounting jobs rose 15 percent while educational institutions increased staffing by 13 percent and outsourcing centers added 6 percent more positions. Schools and universities in Hyderabad led the sector with hiring up 47 percent, followed by gains in Chennai and Bengaluru. Entry-level educational positions for candidates with under three years of experience jumped 25 percent.
Technology openings showed selective strength as companies pursuing blockchain and digital currency work expanded their workforces by 60 percent. Demand surged for specialized technical expertise, with machine learning engineer postings rising 139 percent. Search engineers, medical billing specialists, transition managers and manufacturing engineers all saw hiring increases ranging from 30 percent to 62 percent compared with October 2024.
