Millennials panic as half fear AI will steal jobs
A workplace survey released on Monday found that approximately half of millennial workers in India worry artificial intelligence systems will eliminate their positions within three to five years. The research from Great Place To Work India examined how employees are responding to expanding AI use in professional settings.
About 54 percent of workers said their employers are testing or moderately using AI technology. However, four out of 10 staff members expressed concern that automated systems could take over their duties during the next several years. This anxiety spans across different experience levels and time spent at current companies. The study showed that 40 percent of those worried about job loss plan to leave their present employers.
Balbir Singh, who leads the research organization, said companies must identify practical AI applications and include workers in technology rollouts. Workers at businesses without AI adoption reported much higher insecurity levels at 57 percent compared with just 8 percent at firms using advanced automation. Singh recommended that managers invest in training programs and maintain clear communication to transform worker anxiety into enthusiasm about technological change. The findings suggest structured implementation with leadership backing can reduce employee fears about artificial intelligence replacing human roles.
