FG begins six-month revenue recovery
The federal government started a six-month program to collect unpaid revenues owed to the Federation Account. More than 50 consultants received their assignments on Wednesday at the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission offices in Abuja. The commission and the Federal Inland Revenue Service will work together to identify funds that belong to all three levels of government.
Chairman Mohammed Bello Shehu said the effort aims to close gaps that allow funds to leak out of the system. The consultants will examine economic sectors to locate revenues that were never sent to government accounts. Lead consultant Temitayo Ojeleke promised to complete the work with transparency and skill.
FIRS representative Shettima Tamadi said better cooperation between agencies can reduce the revenue shortfall. Commission Secretary Joseph Nwaeze Okechukwu told consultants their recovered funds will support development programs. The initiative supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reform plans for stronger fiscal management.
