iPhone 18 to feature 12GB RAM as standard
Apple ordered 13 million 10-nanometer LPDDR5X memory chips from Samsung for delivery in the second quarter of 2026 to prepare for the iPhone 18 launch. The company plans to equip all iPhone 18 models with 12 gigabytes of memory, up from 8 gigabytes in the current base iPhone 17. Korean publication The Bell reports Samsung will supply most components because competitors cannot meet production demands.
The iPhone 18 will use six-channel memory architecture to support artificial intelligence applications but will not adopt newer LPDDR6 technology. Samsung resolved earlier manufacturing problems and stabilized production quality to meet customer requirements. Apple will release the iPhone 18 Pro and foldable iPhone in late 2026, with the standard model following in early 2027.
