Korean Air teams up with Lockheed Martin for US military support
Korean Air has formed an alliance with Lockheed Martin to provide maintenance and logistical operations for American military aircraft throughout the Indo-Pacific theater. The agreement aims to boost combat preparedness for Air Force, Navy, and Army equipment stationed across the region.
The South Korean carrier brings 50 years of aerospace experience and has serviced more than 3,700 American military planes. Officials noted that Washington typically limits such arrangements to its most trusted allies, reflecting confidence in the airline’s technical abilities and strategic location.
The partnership supports a Pentagon program that uses allied nations to streamline overseas aircraft servicing. Korean Air already participates in the F-16 Service Life Extension Program, which extends fighter jet operational lifespans by approximately 2 decades through structural upgrades.
The collaboration may expand the carrier’s access to additional defense contracts worldwide. Company representatives stated the venture will strengthen South Korea’s position within the international defense manufacturing sector.
