Samsung brings Wear OS 5 upgrade to Galaxy Watch6 and older
Samsung has released the Wear OS 5 upgrade with OneUI 6 skin for the Galaxy Watch6 series. It comes with new features, such as the Energy Score and watch faces. Older smartwatches will also get the upgrade in time.
Samsung writes that the Watch6 upgrade will be rolled out on Wednesday. The upgrade brings certain Watch7 and Watch Ultra functions to the older smartwatches. For example, an Energy Score calculates a score based on sleep, activity, heart rate, and variability. A sleep tracking function can provide more insight into sleep by measuring movement during sleep, sleep latency, heart rate, and breathing rate, among other things. A sleep apnea function should also be available starting April 2025.
The upgrade also includes new watch faces, AI responses to incoming messages, and extra gestures for accepting phone calls. The upgrade will first come to Watch6 smartwatches. Later, the update should also come to Watch5 and Watch4 smartwatches and the Watch FE. Tweakers previously wrote a review about the Watch7 and the Ultra, discussing the new features.
