Samsung Foundry secures key deals with Apple, Tesla
Samsung Foundry has landed contracts with Apple, NVIDIA, and Tesla, positioning the company as a viable alternative to TSMC for advanced chipmaking. The South Korean manufacturer can produce 2-nanometer processors alongside TSMC, giving technology companies options to spread production risks across multiple suppliers.
Apple ordered next-generation image sensors from Samsung for future iPhones. NVIDIA selected the foundry to build Tegra T239 processors for Nintendo Switch 2 consoles using 8-nanometer technology. Tesla placed orders for AI5 and AI6 chips at Samsung facilities.
The agreements increase factory capacity use and reduce operating losses at the division. Samsung plans to manufacture 2-nanometer chips at its Texas plant and expand advanced packaging capabilities in the United States. The partnerships align with Intel’s and TSMC’s investments in American semiconductor production.
