Samsung rides chip boom to record profits
Samsung Electronics reported record third-quarter 2025 revenue of 86.1 trillion won, or about 60 billion dollars, a 9 percent increase from the same period last year. Strong demand for memory chips drove much of the growth, with semiconductor sales rising 13 percent to 33.1 trillion won and memory-specific revenue climbing 20 percent to 26.7 trillion won.
The company’s semiconductor division posted an operating profit of 7 trillion won, while its mobile business saw revenue grow 12 percent to 33.5 trillion won and operating profit reach 3.6 trillion won. Overall, Samsung recorded an operating profit of 12.2 trillion won and a gross profit margin of 38.9 percent.
Looking ahead, Samsung plans to prioritize high-bandwidth memory HBM3E, 128-gigabyte DDR5, and 24-gigabit GDDR7 in the fourth quarter. In 2026, the focus will shift to HBM4, LPDDR5x, and high-density QLC SSDs. Its foundry business aims to begin mass production of its second-generation 2-nanometer gate-all-around process next year and start operations at its new fabrication plant in Taylor, Texas. Samsung Display will continue concentrating on QD-OLED products.
