Smartcash PSB removes fees for all services
Smartcash Payment Service Bank has eliminated all transaction fees for interbank transfers, bill payments, and text message alerts. The payment service bank, owned by Airtel Nigeria, launched the zero-charge initiative to make digital banking more accessible and affordable for Nigerians.
Chief Executive Officer Tunde Kuponiyi said the move addresses financial pressures faced by households and small businesses. He described the policy as a fundamental shift in digital banking that puts customers first by removing hidden costs that discourage many people from using financial services.
The initiative targets both current users and unbanked Nigerians who avoid digital platforms due to fee concerns. Smartcash aims to establish new standards in Nigeria’s financial sector by prioritizing affordability and transparency.
The bank expects the zero-charge model to expand financial inclusion across urban and rural communities. Kuponiyi said the policy reflects Airtel’s commitment to improving lives through technology and innovation while fostering trust with customers.
