TerraMaster overhauls TOS, users eye missing basics
TerraMaster plans to launch internal trials for TOS 7, its newest network-attached storage platform that underwent major revisions since its late October introduction. The software runs on Linux kernel 6.12 and delivers more than 50 fresh capabilities plus 1,000 refinements across the system. Nearly every interface icon received updated artwork while core interaction patterns were restructured, producing what the manufacturer claims as 60 percent better operational speed.
The revised platform presents a modified desktop environment featuring fresh background images, streamlined navigation elements and improved notification management. Users gain freedom to reposition icons anywhere on their workspace for customized layouts. A consolidated file manager called My Files centralizes storage operations while adding network drive connections and automatic ISO image handling. Search performance jumps 120 percent for precision and reaches 10 times faster retrieval compared with the previous TOS 6 release. Document editing tools allow direct modification of Word, Excel and PowerPoint materials through web browsers without local downloads. The TNAS.online service that handles remote data transfers received stability and speed enhancements. Interface animations were smoothed and approximately 90 percent of system graphics were redrawn. The company currently accepts applicants for its Insider Preview program through its corporate site, with broader beta access anticipated after completion of controlled testing.
