TN CyberTech Bank to launch WhatsApp banking and virtual Visa cards
TN CyberTech Bank intends to launch WhatsApp-based banking services and virtual prepaid Visa cards as part of its digital transformation strategy in Zimbabwe. Chief executive officer Tawanda Nyambirai of parent company TN CyberTech Investments Holdings Limited stated the messaging application will connect to the lender’s OMNI channel, allowing customers to perform transactions including balance inquiries, fund transfers, bill payments, airtime purchases and account openings through the integrated platform.
The virtual Visa cards will provide instant activation through digital channels, eliminating physical card distribution while enabling secure international online and in-app transactions for individuals and small to medium enterprises. Nyambirai noted the institution is evaluating partnerships to develop automated remittance solutions with reduced costs, though planning remains at an early stage. The bank plans to expand corporate partnerships in mining, agriculture and manufacturing sectors during the latter half of the year to strengthen its lending portfolio.
