WEP launches ICT skills program for women and disabled
A Nigerian nonprofit started a technology training program for women and people with disabilities as part of a broader development project. The Women Environmental Programme accepted its first group of students who will learn computer skills needed for jobs in the digital economy.
The sessions teach practical abilities through direct practice and guidance from experienced professionals. Organizers designed the curriculum to help participants find work, start businesses, or gain independence through technology knowledge. The program supports the WomenPower2030 Project, which addresses inequality by building workplace capabilities.
The organization said the launch represents progress toward reducing barriers that prevent women and people with disabilities from entering information technology careers. Officials aim to expand access to digital tools and create pathways for underrepresented groups to participate in online commerce and services.
