Zimbabwe’s Davos returns, leaders talk but roads rot
Trevor Ncube announced that his annual Ideas Festival will return to Nyanga from October 27 through 30 in 2026 during closing remarks at this year’s gathering. The Alpha Media Holdings chairman hosts the event each year to bring together business leaders, policymakers and entrepreneurs for discussions about economic development and innovation. The 2024 edition took place from October 28 to 31 with artificial intelligence serving as a central focus.
Ncube emphasized that broken infrastructure matters less than damaged mindsets and attitudes across Zimbabwe. He called for addressing personal conflicts and toxic behaviors that prevent national unity. The festival featured sessions about mentorship programs, digital literacy and practical business solutions rather than abstract concepts. Delegates learned about AI applications to help Zimbabwean businesses compete globally.
Multiple organizations supported the gathering, among them TN CyberTech Bank, Eight2Five Innovation Hub and the French embassy. Ncube thanked sponsors for enabling scholarships for younger participants and funding innovative projects. He challenged attendees to contribute financially or through partnerships, describing the festival as essential for nation building. Ncube predicted the 2026 event will draw larger crowds with additional high-caliber speakers and expanded networking possibilities.
