Abuja teen earns FAA pilot license at 18
An 18-year-old Nigerian has become one of the youngest people to earn a commercial pilot license from the United States Federal Aviation Administration. Mohammed Aminu Sani finished his training at Phoenix East Aviation in Daytona Beach, Florida, passing all evaluations without failure across 10 months of study. He completed more than 50 hours flying multi-engine planes and another 30 hours on cross-country routes through challenging weather conditions.
Sani grew up in Abuja and graduated with distinction from Regent College before traveling to America for flight school. He trained through night operations and instrument-based navigation systems at one of the most recognized aviation academies under FAA Part 141 standards. The teenager holds a Commercial Multi-Engine Pilot License and plans to work for a major airline. His accomplishment demonstrates that young Nigerians can achieve international recognition through dedication and preparation.
