Adeduntan praises Tinubu for economic rebound
A former First Bank of Nigeria chief executive credited President Bola Tinubu’s administration with improving economic conditions despite remaining challenges. Adesola Adeduntan, a state broadcaster, told BCOS that professionals must recognize government achievements, even though work remains unfinished.
The banking expert said growth rates have strengthened compared to earlier years. He expects citizens will notice concrete benefits when the country’s gross domestic product doubles. Federal and state projects show progress but need better coordination between agencies, he added.
Adeduntan pointed to rice production as evidence of agricultural gains. The nation once spent substantial foreign currency importing rice but has raised domestic output in recent years. Farmers earn better returns as subsidies end and markets operate more freely, he said.
The president should maintain momentum and resist interference with market pricing, Adeduntan advised. Transformation requires years to complete but authorities have started properly. Agricultural advances at an industrial scale could replicate rice sector success across other commodities if the government expands livestock programs, he concluded.
