Adobe powers up Premiere with new masks
Adobe announced desktop enhancements for Premiere video editing software at the MAX conference in Los Angeles this week. The company introduced artificial intelligence-powered object masking, which automatically identifies and isolates people or items within video frames without requiring manual rotoscoping work.
Three public beta tools are included in the software update. Rectangle, ellipse, and pen masking provide precision controls for targeted frame adjustments, while a fast vector mask enables quicker tracking with bidirectional and three-dimensional perspective capabilities. The features accelerate workflow speeds for color grading, blur effects and background modifications.
Editors gain simplified methods for altering subjects, skylines and product imagery within video content. Adobe maintained a familiar interface design for regular users while developing separate Firefly video editing tools. The masking improvements complement broader Creative Cloud application updates revealed at the annual developer event.
