Freberg launches new environmental liability program
Freberg Environmental Insurance LLC introduced an unsupported excess liability program for environmental risks across all 50 states. The Ryan Specialty subsidiary provides coverage up to $10 million above existing Freberg policies or other carriers’ primary environmental protection. The product covers general liability, contractors’ pollution liability, professional liability, environmental impairment liability, and products pollution liability.
Target customers include environmental contractors, remediation specialists, solar energy firms, waste management companies and treatment facilities. The excess liability insurance market reached $14.8 billion in 2024 and may grow to $20.9 billion by 2029. Surplus lines excess and umbrella premiums increased 13.2 percent in the first half of 2025.
Capacity remains limited as underwriters address higher jury awards and claim settlements. The program offers brokers and clients flexible environmental liability protection that supplements primary coverage. Industries such as construction, transportation and manufacturing drive demand for higher liability limits.
