Apple says Oppo stole Watch tech via ex-engineer
Apple faces a Thursday deadline in its lawsuit against Oppo and former employee Chen Shi over alleged theft of Apple Watch sensor technology. The court ordered Oppo to provide documents and forensic reports by Oct. 31 after Apple claimed Shi downloaded 63 protected files and presented proprietary information to hundreds of Oppo workers before his departure.
Apple seeks court orders preventing Shi from sharing additional information and requiring Oppo to halt the development of products that use stolen materials. The company wants access to audit Shi’s data and requests the removal of Oppo employees exposed to confidential details from competitive technology projects.
Oppo denies receiving any trade secrets and states that its search found no Apple-proprietary information from Shi. The Chinese manufacturer argues that his presentation covered general engineering principles and did not contain any confidential content. Shi agreed to testify but requested limited participation due to medical issues.
