Battlefield 6 crushes CoD in preorders
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has sold 200,000 pre-orders on Steam within 18 days of launch, falling short of Battlefield 6’s nearly one million pre-orders at the same point before release. The shooter ranks 173rd on Steam wishlists and faces competition from Battlefield 6, which attracted more than 500,000 concurrent players on Thursday with its Season 1 update and REDSEC battle royale mode.
Analysts note that Call of Duty maintains advantages through Xbox Game Pass availability and integration with Warzone. The franchise reaches casual players who purchase annually through habit and brand recognition. Activision offered free access to Black Ops 6 multiplayer and zombies modes through November 3 to counter Battlefield’s momentum.
Battlefield 6 has surpassed 10 million copies sold and maintains concurrent player counts above 300,000 on Steam. The game beat Black Ops 6 launch sales in Europe last year, though Game Pass availability complicates direct comparisons between the competing shooters.
