Ascend Airways cleared for Malaysia liftoff
Ascend Airways Malaysia has received its full Air Operator Certificate and Air Service Permit, clearing the last regulatory step before launching operations next month. The airline, based in Kuala Lumpur and part of Avia Solutions Group, will initially operate cargo and charter flights in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia, with passenger services scheduled to commence in early 2026.
The carrier obtained a Conditional Air Service Permit in 2024 and finished the full certification process this year. Its first aircraft, a Boeing 737-800SF, will handle initial flights, and the company expects to grow its fleet through 2026. Chief executive officer Germal Singh Khera said Malaysia’s role as a regional aviation hub offers strong growth potential and praised the regulator’s support.
Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia chief executive Dato’ Captain Norazman Bin Mahmud confirmed the airline met all required standards. He noted the approval followed a rigorous review and commended Ascend Airways Malaysia for its thorough preparation. Avia Solutions Group manages 187 aircraft under 11 Air Operator Certificates globally.
