Battlefield 6 drops chaos with Redsec
EA and Battlefield Studios released Season 1 and the free-to-play battle royale mode Battlefield REDSEC on Thursday for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Players who already own Battlefield 6 can access REDSEC as downloadable content through the main game menu, while new players must download it from the main game rather than as a standalone application.
REDSEC features two modes set on Fort Lyndon, a government testing facility. The standard battle royale mode supports 100 players in squads of two or four, with participants selecting their class and sidearm before landing and collecting weapons and equipment as they play. Gauntlet mode pits eight squads against each other in rotating mission types such as Deadlock and Wreckage.
Season 1 adds the Conquest map Blackwell Ridge and the franchise’s first battle pass. Players can unlock new weapons like the SOR-300SC carbine and Mini-Scout sniper rifle by progressing through the pass. The Portal mode allows players to create custom versions of REDSEC with adjusted rules.
