Believe Japan names Kazunari Imai chairman, eyes digital growth
Music distribution company Believe named Kazunari Imai as chairman and strategic business relations senior executive director for its Japanese operations. Imai will work under Erika Ogawa and Sylvain Delange to develop business strategy and explore mergers and partnerships. The appointment strengthens the company’s presence in Japan after entering the market in October 2023.
Believe launched hip-hop label PLAYCODE in February 2024 and partnered with Teichiku Entertainment in March 2025. Imai brings four decades of experience from Victor Entertainment, JVC Networks, Pony Canyon, and consulting firm KiSML. Japan ranks as the second-largest music market globally with significant digital growth potential. The company plans to help Japanese artists reach international audiences through its global distribution network.
