Bhutan delegation explores Dhaka stock exchange operations
Officials from the Royal Securities Exchange of Bhutan Limited visited the Dhaka Stock Exchange this week to study how a contemporary bourse functions. The three-day trip concluded on Wednesday after starting on Monday, October 21.
Mohammad Asadur Rahman, who serves as chief operating officer and acting managing director at the Dhaka exchange, told the visitors that regional markets in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan and Bhutan could benefit from sharing technology and expertise. He said the Dhaka exchange wants to grow beyond stocks by adding platforms for small and medium enterprises.
The four Bhutanese delegates said they gained useful knowledge about trading systems, settlement procedures and oversight methods. They toured multiple brokerage firms to see how technology works in practice.
Both exchanges agreed to continue working together. Rahman pledged technical support to help develop Bhutan’s capital market.
