Bursa Malaysia rallies on Trump-Xi trade optimism
Malaysia’s stock market gained ground Tuesday as traders returned from holiday and aligned with regional momentum. The benchmark index added 9.65 points to close at 1,616.83 while 779 stocks advanced against 369 decliners.
Investors showed renewed confidence after US President Donald Trump signaled progress toward resolving trade disputes with China ahead of their meeting in South Korea. The exchange processed 3.68 billion shares valued at 2.55 billion ringgit as participants gradually reentered the market following profit-taking.
Major banking stocks rose modestly while heavyweight Nestle jumped 4.50 ringgit to 109.50 ringgit. Analysts expect the index to trade between 1,600 and 1,630 points through the week as sentiment turns more positive.
