Call of Duty movie taps Berg and Sheridan
Paramount has tapped Peter Berg to direct and co-write the Call of Duty movie alongside Taylor Sheridan, according to Deadline. Berg, known for action thrillers like Lone Survivor and Mile 22, will collaborate with Sheridan, creator of Yellowstone and writer of the Sicario films. The two previously worked together on the 2016 film Hell or High Water.
The hiring suggests the project may be moving quickly, as Sheridan’s current deal with Paramount ends in 2028. Starting January 1, 2029, he is set to develop film and television projects for NBCUniversal under a five-year agreement. No casting announcements have been made yet.
The news arrives as Activision prepares to release Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on November 14. Set in 2035, the game continues the Black Ops storyline with JSOC Commander David “Section” Mason, played by Milo Ventimiglia, leading Specter One against the reemergence of terrorist Raúl Menéndez. The team includes Mike Harper (Michael Rooker), Eric Samuels (John Eric Bentley), Leilani “50/50” Tupuola (Frankie Adams), and Colonel Troy Marshall (Y’lan Noel). They are joined by Emma Kagan (Kiernan Shipka), CEO of The Guild, a former criminal group turned tech corporation.
