Fast charging doesn’t harm battery life, study shows
A six-month battery experiment conducted by HTX Studio has challenged widespread concerns about fast charging degrading smartphone longevity. The test evaluated 20 devices split between iPhone 12 and Vivo iQOO 7 models through 500 complete charge cycles, comparing rapid charging against standard speeds and partial charging limited to a 30 to 80 percent range. Battery capacity measurements revealed less than one percent difference between fast and slow charging groups, indicating modern voltage and thermal management systems effectively protect lithium-ion cells from accelerated wear.
Devices maintained within the mid-capacity range retained approximately 4 percent more original battery health on iPhones and 2.5 percent on Android units compared to full-cycle charging. The findings suggest contemporary smartphones handle high-speed charging safely due to improved hardware regulation of heat and current flow, contradicting older assumptions about rapid charging damage.
