Celeste blasts label over pressure and mistreatment ahead of new album
British vocalist Celeste disclosed tensions with her record company ahead of her second album release. The artist stated on social media that Polydor Records provided minimal promotional backing for Woman Of Faces and pressured her to add specific tracks against her wishes. She described facing retaliation for refusing label demands and observed her creative concepts being redirected to better-funded campaigns.
The musician expressed concern about harmful industry standards that endanger artist welfare. Celeste earned recognition through the Sound Of 2020 award and a Brit Awards honor before her debut record, Not Your Muse, topped UK charts in 2021. She received an Academy Award nomination for her contribution to The Trial Of The Chicago 7 soundtrack that same year.
