Cha Vaccine Institute targets global growth with new pipelines
Cha Vaccine Institute will concentrate on products closer to market and strengthen immune platforms for global growth under CEO Han Seung-il. The former Pfizer executive said on Wednesday that raising the firm’s market value has been his main priority since August. He aims to build investor confidence through clinical achievements and international partnerships.
The biotech company highlighted three lead candidates: a shingles vaccine entering Phase 2 trials next year, a dog cancer treatment targeting a 2027 launch, and a Japanese encephalitis vaccine without a set timeline. Han noted that Middle Eastern and Latin American governments want vaccine technology after recognizing its strategic importance post-pandemic. The stock fell to 2,360 won per share in April from a 14,900 won listing peak in October 2021 despite consecutive operating losses.
