Suno raises $250 million amid legal challenges
Artificial intelligence music platform Suno has secured $250 million in Series C funding, bringing its valuation to $2.45 billion with backing from Menlo Ventures, NVIDIA’s venture capital division NVentures, and other investors. The financing arrives while the company faces multiple copyright infringement lawsuits from major record labels, including Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group, along with legal challenges from music rights organizations in Denmark and Germany.
The US-based startup reports that nearly 100 million users have created music through its platform over the past two years, generating $200 million in annual revenue primarily from subscription fees. Suno has expanded beyond basic AI generation with the launch of Suno Studio, positioned as the first generative audio workstation combining professional multi-track editing with AI-powered stem creation.
The investment will fund the development of advanced tools for professional creators and enhanced social features for casual users as the music industry confronts a surge of AI-generated content on streaming platforms.
