China Eastern adds Delhi flights boom
China Eastern Airlines will raise its weekly direct flights between Shanghai Pudong and New Delhi from three to five, beginning January 2, 2026, citing strong demand from Indian travelers. Flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays using Airbus A330-200 aircraft with 17 business and 245 economy seats.
Flight MU563 departs Shanghai at 12:50 p.m., arriving in New Delhi at 5:45 p.m. local time. The return flight, MU564, departs from Delhi at 7:55 p.m. and arrives in Shanghai at 4:10 a.m. the following day. InterGlobe Air Transport will handle sales, marketing, ticketing, and support.
The airline also plans new routes from Kunming to Kolkata and Shanghai Pudong to Mumbai. Officials stated that the increased frequency will enhance trade, tourism, education, and cultural ties. Shanghai Pudong serves as a gateway to cities in China, as well as to North America, Japan, South Korea, and Europe.
China Eastern resumed Shanghai–Delhi flights on November 9 after a five-year break. Separately, IndiGo operated the first India–China direct flight since 2020, landing in Guangzhou from Kolkata this week, and will start daily New Delhi–Guangzhou flights on November 10.
