Colorful touts Ryzen boost with new BIOS tweaks
Colorful has rolled out two new BIOS-based memory modes, Low Latency and High Performance, for its AM5 motherboards to address high memory latency on Ryzen 9000 series systems. The Chinese hardware maker states that the features available on select 800-series boards, such as the Tomahawk B850M Super Black Blade and Colorfire B850M Meow, can also be enabled on X870, B850, and B650 models through a BIOS update.
According to Colorful, activating Low Latency mode via the EXPO1 preset and selecting Tightest settings for High Performance mode reduces memory latency by 12 nanoseconds. Internal tests show this yields 5 gigabytes per second higher read speeds and 4.5 gigabytes per second faster writes in AIDA64 at a stable 6000 MT/s. In Battlefield 6, average frame rates reportedly rose from 146 to 172 frames per second—a 15 percent gain. The company notes these results are based on its own testing; independent verification has not yet been published.
