Coway wins Diamond Prize for water purifier excellence
Coway earned top recognition at the Korea International Sommelier Association bottled water competition on Wednesday. The home appliance manufacturer received its first Diamond Prize for maintaining Gold status for six consecutive years in blind taste evaluations. Its award-winning Switch model uses a nanotrap filter with electrostatic adsorption technology to eliminate viruses, bacteria, heavy metals, and microplastics from drinking water.
The company operates a Water Taste Research Institute, founded in 2019, that applies scientific methods to assess quality and flavor. Coway trains employees as certified water sommeliers through a program established in 2012 with the sommelier association. The business currently employs 44 accredited specialists who evaluate products when researchers design new equipment. A company representative said the achievement demonstrates sustained investment in development and expertise.
