EMEM FPSO sails from Dubai to Okwok for first oil
Oriental Energy Resources Limited has dispatched the EMEM Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessel from a Dubai shipyard to Nigeria’s Okwok field, where the facility will begin operations in early 2026 as the country’s first FPSO fully financed and converted by a domestic firm. The unit can handle 40,000 barrels daily and will connect with an installed wellhead platform and five production wells to support the field’s initial output, marking the company’s transition to direct operational control of its assets.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Heineken Lokpobiri described the deployment as evidence of investor confidence in Nigeria’s oil sector and a generator of revenue for national development priorities. Company Chairman Mohammed Indimi credited federal authorities, including President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, for creating conditions that enabled the independent field development launched in 2022. Governors Babagana Zulum, Umo Eno, and Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri attended the departure ceremony alongside representatives from Drydocks World Dubai.
