Epic adds game gifting to Epic Games Store
Epic Games Store has activated its game gifting system, enabling users to purchase titles for friends through the web platform or desktop launcher. The feature supports paid releases, bundles, special editions and downloadable content while excluding free titles, preorders, subscriptions and virtual currency. Recipients must maintain a friendship connection for at least two days before receiving gifts.
The system automatically processes refunds when recipients already possess the gifted product or fail to claim purchases within 14 days. Manual gift rejection triggers the same refund procedure. Cross-border transactions remain blocked at launch, with the company planning international functionality without specifying implementation dates.
The rollout addresses a frequently requested capability as the storefront works to match competitor features ahead of the holiday purchasing period.
